I see this conference tower of Tokyo Big Sight so often nowadays. It shows up frequently in manga and anime during convention situations. It's very iconic and memorable. Regarding composition, I can appreciate the angle at which the photo has been taken. I like the negative space of the sky opposite to the busier part of the picture. The looming tower is showing it's power. If you associate it with the sorts of gatherings that occur there, it can be seen as a symbol of Japanese pop culture and the power it has over its people. And it looks up to heaven and says in a thunderous voice: "Behold, a mighty tower of the Japanese! Look at what westernization has done to her! Look at her power! God, are you a Zelda fan? How many Triforces can you count on this roof?"

hehe thanks for the comment :) you have a nice take on it! i totally get what your saying... but i think my fave part of the picture is the person in the foreground and the shadow that is created - that has the same sort has the same feeling for me - its like a mega structure shining down on everybody...

ive never played zelda so not really sure what a triforce is lol

You're welcome! It's funny--I totally don't pay a lot of attention to people in pictures when there us a lot of interesting scenery. But after you mentioned that one, I see what you are saying, also, and I'm shocked I didn't think much of it before!

Also, no, I don't expect everyone to know what a Triforce is. :) I just expected someone to see my comment who did and then look again at the roof which is full of them--there's another word for the shape, but it's simply three triangles together. I look for them everywhere.

I am also enjoying the rest of your photos. Many are of things I am unfamiliar with, places I have never been to and your approach is somehow different from the work of many photographers I've seen.

Now that is a beautiful capture of a beautiful building. I think I see four pillars supporting a floating base, but the lens sorta throws me off (which is what makes the picture beautiful). Do you by chance know the architect? I am really jealous of Japanese architects, since they have some of the best and most beautiful buildings I have ever seen, and this one only adds to that. Funny, too, 'cause I always remember people saying how space conscious the Japanese need to be. I guess one could claim that they have a public space below a commercial (?) space.

As far as a critique goes: it may be just me, but I think the extra blue space at the top really isn't balanced by the ground on the bottom, so to me, the extra sky feels sorta dead. I have no idea how to fix it, only that that's how it appears to me. Maybe if there were more sky, it might portray something entirely different, but if the focus is the building, I think the entire focus should be the building. I really don't know how else to put it. I just ran the scroll bar up and down and I saw a piece of the blue could peel off and probably help frame better. Maybe that's just me.

I don't know if that made any sense, but hopefully my "type as I think" technique is legible. Hope that helps some. Good luck on your trip around the world. :-) Don't just stick to the coasts, though, when in the US. They are so crazy different everywhere there that you have to just sink into each region (West Coast, California, South, Texas, Midwest, north Midwest, east, Northeast). I know I've forgotten some of them... Ah well, have fun.
